The story is set in 1967 and follows a young orphaned boy named Bruno (Jahzir Kadeem Bruno) who goes to live with his loving Grandma (Octavia Spencer) in the rural town of Demopolis, Alabama. His grandmother, who has had terrifying encounters with witches before, warns him that real witches are not the fairy-tale creatures with pointy hats and broomsticks. Instead, they are horrifically diabolical women who despise children and are masters of disguise, living ordinary lives among us. Their ultimate goal? To eliminate all the children in the world by turning them into mice.
